When weight isn’t really about food
Sometimes the hardest part isn’t knowing what to eatYou may already know a lot about food, nutrition and what you're “supposed” to be doing. You may have tried diets, plans, apps or simply promised yourself that this time would be different.
But knowing what to do and being able to consistently do it are two very different things.
Sometimes eating is connected to stress, comfort, boredom, anxiety, habit, self-esteem or simply needing a moment of relief. Sometimes the pattern has been around for so long that it feels automatic.
Weight loss hypnotherapy can help you explore what is happening underneath the behaviour, so that changing your relationship with food becomes about understanding yourself rather than constantly fighting yourself.
How hypnotherapy can help with weight loss
It’s about changing the pattern, not fighting yourselfWeight loss hypnotherapy isn't about putting you on another diet or telling you what you should eat. It's about exploring the thoughts, emotions and automatic patterns that can influence how, when and why you eat.
Together, we can look at the habits that may be getting in the way of the changes you want to make, and use hypnotherapy to help you develop different responses. The aim is to make healthier choices feel more natural and sustainable, while building a kinder and more confident relationship with yourself.
UNDERSTAND THE PATTERN
Explore the thoughts, emotions and situations that can influence eating and make certain habits feel automatic.
CHANGE THE RESPONSE
Use hypnotherapy to develop new ways of responding to cravings, emotional triggers and familiar habits.
BUILD A DIFFERENT RELATIONSHIP
Develop greater confidence, self-trust and a more relaxed relationship with food and your choices.
What might be keeping you stuck?
There can be more to a pattern than meets the eyeEmotional Eating
Food can become a way of responding to stress, anxiety, boredom, loneliness or difficult emotions.
Self Criticism
Feeling unhappy with your body or frustrated with your eating can create a cycle that makes change feel even harder.
Automatic Habits
Sometimes eating patterns become so familiar that they happen almost without conscious thought.
All-or-nothing Thinking
“I've blown it now” can quickly turn one choice into a pattern. We can work towards a more flexible way of responding.
A Personalised Approach to Weight LossThere isn't one reason people struggle with weight - so there shouldn't be one approach.
As a qualified counsellor and hypnotherapist, I look beyond the behaviour itself. We'll explore what weight, food and eating mean for you personally, rather than assuming that the same approach will work for everyone.
My work is client-led, but you don't have to work everything out on your own. I'll use my experience and therapeutic training to help us understand the patterns involved and decide where it's most useful to focus.
Depending on what you need, our work may draw on hypnotherapy alongside counselling techniques, CBT and NLP. The approach can evolve as we understand more about what's happening for you.
FEEL MORE IN CONTROL
Notice cravings and emotional triggers without automatically acting on them.
What Can Change?
Small shifts can create surprisingly different patterns.BREAK THE AUTOMATIC CYCLE
Create space between a feeling, a familiar habit and what you choose to do next.
TRUST YOURSELF MORE
Move away from guilt and all-or-nothing thinking towards choices that feel more sustainable.
Common questions about weight loss hypnotherapy
-
Hypnotherapy can help you explore and change some of the thoughts, emotions and habits that influence eating and make weight management difficult. It isn't a diet or a replacement for nutritional or medical advice, but it can support the psychological side of making sustainable changes.
-
Hypnotherapy is generally considered a safe therapeutic approach when provided by a suitably trained practitioner. I'll always work within my professional boundaries and take your individual circumstances into account. Where there are medical, nutritional or mental health considerations that need additional support, I'll encourage you to involve the appropriate healthcare professional.
-
Yes. Hypnosis doesn't take away your ability to think, make decisions or choose what you do. You'll remain aware throughout the session and can respond, ask questions and stop whenever you need to.
-
No. Hypnotherapy isn't a diet plan and I won't prescribe what you should or shouldn't eat. We focus on the psychological and behavioural patterns that may be making change difficult, helping you develop a more flexible and sustainable relationship with food and your choices.
-
Many people who come to me have already tried diets, plans or other approaches and feel frustrated that the changes haven't lasted. Rather than simply trying another set of rules, we'll look at what may have been getting in the way and work with the patterns that are specific to you.
What my clients say
“Rachel got me to stop binge eating - I don’t even miss it! My lifestyle is so different and I am so grateful. I’ve gone down three dress sizes which is just incredible, I struggled to go down even one over the last six years. I’m honestly amazed.” - Jemma
“With hypnotherapy I’ve managed to lose a steady 2 or 3 pounds a week and I’m about four weeks off my target. More than that, however, I feel like me again. I never expected that. I’m so happy.” - Kate
